The mechanical systems at Byrd School within the Burbank School District were outdated, inefficient, and affecting the health, safety, and comfort of learning environments for students and staff alike. Based on the established, trust-filled relationship that Syserco Midwest and the Burbank School Districts share, the Burbank School District chose to partner with the Syserco Midwest Team to provide automated controls and programming to support their energy saving initiatives.
The renovated Byrd School facility features (28) rooms, (2) gyms, and an office area with a complete controls system upgrade. The Byrd School is connected to the District’s network via a centralized server along with (8) other District schools and an administrative building, all integrated by Syserco, to allow for ease of use, maintenance, and communication.
The upgraded Central Utility Plant provides heating and cooling and has been sized to allow for future expansion should the District need it in the future. Inefficient window units in each classroom were also upgraded and the addition of an air-cooled chiller to cool classrooms and the remainder of the Byrd School was installed.
The Syserco-installed Building Automation System consists of approximately (37) controllers and Alerton Compass Enterprise system providing critical control and monitoring.
