Educating over 100,000 students each year, the City College of San Francisco is the largest community college district in the country and the Chinatown North Beach Campus is the newest addition to CCSF’s portfolio of campuses. This 14-story building is both architecturally and mechanically innovative, providing enhanced learning environments via systems that create energy efficient, safe and comfortable environments.
With a goal of achieving LEED Gold Certification, the project team chose Syserco as their partner to expand the College’s existing district wide Alerton Energy Management & Control System into the new building. Syserco was selected for its long history of service and support for CCSF, its experience providing control solutions for other higher education facilities, and its successful track record of LEED Certification.
The control system installed on this project includes thousands of physical and virtual points and the integration of multiple sub-systems. To reduce operating costs, the controls for the new China Town Campus are fully integrated with the District’s central Alerton EMCS server, located miles away at the main campus. This integration allows facilities personnel to access, troubleshoot, and respond to any of the buildings or campuses from any location in the city.
Syserco’s involvement in this project and the installed Alerton EMCS system helped the project team achieve a LEED Gold Certification for the building while dramatically reducing resources used and operating costs.
