The Building 1800 remodel at Chabot College was the first major remodel project performed at the facility in nearly 50 years. Continuing its multi-year partnership with Syserco, the College chose to expand the campus’ existing Alerton Energy Management & Control System to provide the required DDC control and monitoring for the remodeled facility.
The project enabled the College to take advantage of Demand Control Ventilation (DCV), reduce overall energy usage, and improve the learning environment. To accomplish this, Syserco installed a room by room CO2 monitoring infrastructure, tying the sensors into the Alerton EMCS system and using them to deliver optimum outdoor air while minimizing energy usage.
In addition to modernizing the HVAC System, new electrical systems and equipment were added. Syserco provided a BACnet based sub-metering infrastructure for the new electrical systems and a lighting control system that uses photocells and room occupancy sensors to limit lighting run time.
Syserco’s close partnership with the College paved the way for this project. Through open communication and collaboration, Syserco worked collaboratively with the design professionals to plan and implement advanced control and monitoring strategies that support Chabot College in meeting their energy efficiency and building optimization goals.
